It might not seem like it, but Kroger is actually the largest supermarket chain in the country. They have as many as 2,800 grocery stores across 35 states and yet it seems that not a lot of people are familiar with their name.
That’s because a lot of local grocery stores are actually a division of Kroger. In Utah, you might find Smith’s. In Kansas, you could run over to Dillons for a snack while in California you’d shop at Ralphs. In Arizona, they’re known as Fry’s.
But there are plenty, plenty of other names under the Kroger brand, including QFC, Pick ‘n Save, Owen’s, Pay-Less Super Markets, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, Baker’s and City Market.
