Myth: ‘For Sale by Owner’ Means Savings
When a seller doesn’t employ the help of a broker, it makes many buyers think that they may be getting a better deal. But here’s the thing- both parties have certain expectations, thinking they’ll be the ones that will get to save more money. The buyer might think that since the seller isn’t paying a commission, they should lower their price a little bit. Meanwhile, the seller will want to essentially pocket what they would have paid for a commission.
You can see now why there’s so much misunderstanding when it comes to homes that are for sale by their owners. Don’t always assume you’ll get the best deal, no matter which side of the fence you find yourself on.
