Kansas: Atchison
Located along the Missouri River, Atchison is one of Kansas’s most history-rich cities with over 20 sites on the National Register of Historic Places. Among other things, it was the birthplace of famous aviator Amelia Earhart and the place where the Amelia Earhart Festival takes place every July. In addition, Atchison is also known as the Lone Star’s most haunted town, attracting thrill-seekers all over the country.
But don’t let the ghost stories scare you away! Atchison has undergone a major makeover, with recent rehabilitation works taking place to give the city a more modern vibe. The water tower, the Lutz Brothers fuel pump and the LFM Park Basketball Courts are among the rehabilitated places.
