23 Improvements for Your Home Ready In Under an Hour

4. Rearrange your bookshelves.

You don’t need to stop by the store in order to start a project in your home. All you need, at the end of the day, is some free time and perseverence.

Time to redecorate your bookshelves! You’re going to want to consider a ‘less is more’ approach for this one in order to truly declutter your living space. Even when you think you’re done removing items, take away another one or two anyway.

For a refreshing look, you’ll want sufficient space between your books and decorative items. If you can, leave some shelves empty as well as this will help draw attention towards the items you truly want to showcase.

Furthermore, you can donate or sell any items or books that you’re no longer using!

5. Install floating shelves.

Empty walls might give your home a refreshing look, especially if the rest of your home is packed with decorations and furniture… but they can also look forgotten and a little bit boring. A great way to decorate them without going overboard is to install floating shelves.

Pick up a few vintage items or, better yet, populate them with some of the stuff you’ve removed from your newly decluttered bookshelves.

Just make sure to space them out evenly and get your vacuum ready to suck up all the dust- while you’re at it, you could even clean up the rest of the room for a shiny finish, and you’re done!

6. Upgrade your cabinet hardware.

Swapping out your old cabinets for new and shiny ones can be pricey and time consuming- clearly not an entry worthy of this particular list. However, you can still update them at the fraction of the cost by replacing their knobs.

Some selections might be especially pricey, but if you’re money conscious then you could look for more afforable variations. All in all, you could do this for less than $200 without going for the cheapest available knobs- after all, the point in all of this is to add something fancy to your home, not tacky!

In addition, you’ll need either a screwdriver or a drill, but all in all, this shouldn’t take you more than one hour.
