Science classes said our solar system has nine planets, but in 2006, tiny, distant, and icy Pluto was reclassified and lost its planetary status. It is now classified as a dwarf planet — just the biggest object in a huge belt of rocks circling the farthest fringes of the solar system. Don’t get too used to the classification, though.
