UNUSED COUNTERNARCOTICS PLANE
Money wasted: $65 million
The U.S. military shelled out $65 million on a single plane that was designed for counternarcotics enforcement in Afghanistan, but instead sat in a warehouse unused for seven years. In a September report since deleted from the Department of Defense (DoD) site, the DoD inspector general detailed the failures of the overseeing department to oversee funding and capabilities of the ATR 4-500 aircraft.
