I used to have a friend that would buy a new pair of cheap shoes for every single night out. He did this because he didn’t want to risk ruining new expensive shoes and ended up spending a lot more money than he’d initially bargained for. For the longest time we thought he was just silly, but then we found out the root of the problem.
It turned out that his ‘expensive’ pairs weren’t all that expensive anyway, so it was no wonder they broke so easily. We encouraged him to splurge a little and he was surprised by how good and reliable the high-quality pairs were! They certainly lasted him a lot longer than his previous ones.
But there are also medical reasons as to why you should not go for the cheapest shoes on the market. If you want to avoid permanently damaging your feet, consider paying a little bit extra. If you’re already struggling with ingrown toenails, hammertoes, bunions and corns, you’ll only make matters worse if you only buy low-cost alternatives. Focus on staying pain-free with shoes that won’t tear apart after one or two wears.
