This is where things get a little more complicated. But, even so, there’s no reason to panic. Costco gives you your money back for appliances purchased in their stores, excluding the fees for services such as installation or delivery. It’s still more than what other retailers are willing to give you.
Home Depot, for instance, takes back appliances only 48 hours after delivery and only if the item has a defect or has been damaged in the process. Lowe’s accepts returns on major appliances 30 days after purchase while Sears has the same return limit plus a 15% restocking fee.
Major appliances might not benefit from the same generous return policy as most items at Costco- you have 90 days to return refrigerators, freezers, stoves, dishwashers, and the like – but it’s still better than what its competitors are willing to accept in terms of returns.
