9 Organizing Mistakes That Make Your House Look Messy

You should follow the “one in, one out” rule

According to Michelle Nelson, founder and host of Build Your House Yourself University Podcast, when you bring a new item into your room, you should automatically take out another one of the same sizes. It is very important to follow this rule because it helps you keep your home organized and decluttered. “If you bring a vase in, take an old vase out, or at least remove something similar in size,” she says.

In fact, you don’t have to fill your entire room with a lot of similar objects. But if you want to buy something new, all you have to do is to replace the old one.
