Sharing is the whole concept behind social media. So it’s easy to want to immediately post a photo when you see something spectacular like a double rainbow. But what’s infinitely more rewarding is enjoying the moment you have the privilege of experiencing in person instead of hoping to make others enjoy it through your eyes.
Is there anything sadder than watching a kid trying to get Daddy or Mommy’s attention while the parent is absorbed in their social media feed? Don’t be that parent. Don’t be that aunt, uncle, or friend-of-the-parent either, for that matter.
We aren’t judging parents who allow their kids screen time. But it’s a very good idea to limit the amount of time they spend browsing social media. By limiting their use of devices to the common areas of the house, you can monitor things all the better.
Just because someone doesn’t agree with your politics or lifestyle isn’t a reason to unfriend them. The more diverse your social media friends list, the better idea you’ll have of the opinions of the many types of people on this planet. Having friends who only have common opinions, after all, is a bias all its own.
