Do not store fresh basil and other herbs

Even though storing these herbs inside a plastic bag is unlikely to make you sick, chances are your herbs will turn black and you won’t be able to use them anymore. Instead, it would be a great idea to buy a live basil plant instead and place it on the kitchen windowsill.

Additionally, every time you’ll need basil, you’ll just snip a few fresh leaves and use them in your food. If the idea of a live plant is not for you, make sure to trim the ends of the basil and place it in a glass of water, so it can stay hydrated and fresh.

There are also certain herb containers that will keep them fresh for a longer period of time.
