11 Items in Your Refrigerator You Better Throw Away Right Now

Toss away highly perishable food you’ve kept in the fridge door

According to Mary Yavelak, extension associate at the College of Agriculture and Life Science at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, when it comes to food safety it’s very important to take into consideration the temperature inside refrigerators.

Therefore, certain foods that spoil very quickly, such as milk, cheese, or sour cream, must be stored on the refrigerator’s shelves. Why? Because the temperature on the fridge door is likely to be warmer, considering we open it several times a day, so the food stored there can go bad faster.

Instead, you can put soda cans, water bottles, wine bottles, ketchup, mustard, and any other condiments that are not as sensitive as dairy, as they contain a lot of preservatives that prevent them from going bad as easily.

Additionally, if you want your fridge to look clean and fresh, Yavelak recommends using clear door organizers, that will make it very easy for you to spot what items you have there.
