Absinthe

Absinthe was banned in the United States in 1912 as well as in most parts of Europe, due to its presumably dangerous properties associated with seizure and hallucinations. The ban lasted until 2007, when the sale of absinthe became legal, conditioned that it complied with certain rules regarding the levels of thujone, a compound found in wormwood, one of the main ingredients of absinthe, alongside anise and fennel.
