13 Things People Subconsciously Do Around Rude People

9. They Keep Their Distance from You Physically

The founder of The Vida Consultancy, Rachel Vida MacLynn, says that a key sign of whether someone thinks you’re rude (or if they like you or not) is physical distance. We couldn’t agree more.

The closer someone sits or stands next to you, the better. So, a dear friend might always want to be close to you as they aren’t uncomfortable by the proximity.

Someone who thinks you’re rude, however, will try to add as much distance as possible. You can take it a step further and start looking at their feet. Are they pointing away? Do they look ready to walk off towards the nearest exit? Then that could be another sign that they might not want to be anywhere near you. They might not say it to your face, but their body does all their talking for them!

You might be wondering why staring at someone’s feet is so important too. That’s because people are very likely to point them towards where they’d go instead. Maybe you’re ‘holding’ them there and they feel they can’t just step away, or maybe they’re prepared to do just that the moment you step out of line.
