Look out for the other person’s hands when investigating their body language. While people who like you will look relaxed, maybe even open, those who dislike you will look closed off and upset. It’s not easy to tell by just looking at their facial expressions, which is why checking out their hands and arms is also a good trick.
By relaxed and open we mean that people might have a tendency to use their hands to speak, or they might look like they’re either lounging or leaning forward to pay more attention. On the opposite side of the spectrum? People will cross their arms, which could reflect on something you’ve said or done that is putting them off. They could feel anxious or they might want to stop talking right then and there yet are unable to. That’s where their arms will act as a sort of barrier between you and them.
