In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, an average family will need around $233,610 to raise a child from birth to the age of 17, to cover food, shelter and basic necessities. This amount does not include all the extra things parents usually pay for to make their children happy, like toys, electronics, birthday parties and so on.
