10 Mistakes That Shorten the Life of Your Appliances

Smartphone

We are all familiar with the hype of buying a new phone as soon as the model hits the market. It’s not that your old one is broken, but you just want a newer and fancier one.  However, if you need to replace your smartphone shortly after you bought it, it’s probably not the phone, it’s you. You’re most likely letting it overheat.

According to PCMag, most of us charge our devices overnight. In fact, your phone is in danger of overheating every time you plug it in with a full battery.

“The lifetime is very much dependent on the resistance or impedance growth inside the battery,” Yang Shao-Horn, W. M. Keck Professor of Energy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, stated for Digital Trends. “Keeping the battery fully charged essentially increases the rate of some of the parasitic reactions, which translates to potentially high impedance and greater impedance growth over time.”
