Water-based Paint
For decades, the inventors of acrylic latex paints were actually struggling to convince people that they were far superior to their oil-based counterparts. When they hit the market in the 50s, the Family Handyman magazine raved about them. Fast forward to the 1980s and people were still on the fence.
Eventually, though, DIY-ers everywhere realized that water-based paint was far easier to use and clean up.
