Freeze your card
Literally. Put your credit card in ice. The water won’t damage the electronics within, and, since the card is lodged in an impenetrably solid piece of frozen water—and since you can’t speed up the melting via microwave, thanks to the reflective surfaces on your card, unless you want a burnt-out kitchen—it’ll take a least a couple hours before you can make an ill-advised purchase on impulse.
