Antibacterial soap

In order to keep germs and bacteria away, we often use antibacterial soap to wash our hands. So far so good. The only problem is that one of the main ingredients of antibacterial soap is triclosan. This antibacterial and antifungal agent has been banned by the US Food and Drug Administration in over-the-counter products such as liquid soaps due to science-based evidence that it may cause bacterial resistance to antibiotics.

Animal studies have also revealed that long-term exposure to triclosan may cause thyroid problems, gut inflammation. The FDA argued that the presence of compounds such as triclosan makes the washes no more effective than regular soap.
