Foie gras
The trade and consumption of foie gras are not illegal in all American states, but some such as New York have put complete bans on this delicacy due to animal welfare. Foie gras is made from the liver of ducks and geese (male, to be more precise), which are force-fed until their livers become enlarged. New York has also taken steps to ban all foie gras derived from force-feeding by 2022, a move widely supported by animal rights groups but strongly disliked by NY restaurateurs.
