The eraser
Life hasn’t always been so simple. Our ancestors often had to come up with some creative techniques to get things done. For example, they used breadcrumbs to rub out ink stains. However, one day in April 1770, Englishman Edward Naime accidentally used rubber tree resin, which he mistook for breadcrumbs, to erase something. He discovered that this substance actually worked much better and started to sell rubber erasers!
