Apparently, complaining about your restaurant food has its benefits! In August of 1958, the head chef at a New York restaurant, George Crum, reached the end of his tether when a customer returned his fried potatoes for being too thick. He let off steam by cutting them into very thin slices and frying them before adding lots of salt. And, the rest is history!
