Tarte Tatin
Stéphanie and Caroline Tatin were two French sisters who ran a restaurant in Sologne at the end of the 19th century. The restaurant was popular with hunters. So, one Sunday morning, for the start of the hunt, one of them made an apple tart,… but forgot to put a layer of pastry on the bottom of the tin! She placed it over the top instead and put it all in the oven. The resulting dish proved a real hit with the hunters. Tarte Tatin became the restaurant’s speciality, making a name for the two sisters on the global food scene.
