Hit the Lights
That low mood you’ve been feeling — you know, the one that keeps telling you to order pizza — might just be the result of having the wrong kind of lighting in your bedroom. Researchers at Northwestern University found that exposure to bright light can increase insulin resistance, spiking blood sugar and making weight gain virtually inevitable. When compounded by the sleep deprivation often caused by bright light in the bedroom, you’re looking at a prescription for weight gain. Try keeping your room as dark as possible at night and opt for bulbs that mimic natural light to help boost your mood.
