Myth: Vaccinations are just for kids
‘Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you have all your vaccinations. The tetanus shot was updated to include the pertussis vaccine, which is recommended every 10 years. While tetanus is rare, pertussis outbreaks have been increasing, and preventing it is particularly important if you have young children in the family.
Anyone who smokes, has a chronic health condition, or is over 65 should consider the pneumonia vaccine and the shingles vaccine. And don’t forget the yearly flu shot.’ – Harland Thomas Holman, MD, a physician at Spectrum Health Medical Group
