Cheap electronics are pretty much everywhere nowadays thanks to the influx of Chinese products. You’d be hardpressed not to find any and, as with furniture, after a big move, it may seem ‘smart’ to pick the low-cost options. But how much money are you actually saving?
How This Might Cost You More
Parts. Parts. Parts! Replacement parts are the main culprits behind cheap electronics. If anything breaks down- and they will, often, then you’re stuck in an endless cycle.
But this is an issue for bigger items such as air conditioning units, ovens or fridges. If your microwave breaks down you’ll be tempted to throw the whole thing out and buy a new one. Then, you’ll be back on square one.
A famous example is a printer. You can find tons of models for as little as $50 dollars. It’s all well and good until you run out of ink and have to pay upwards of $20 for a cartridge. By simply thinking about the long term costs of certain electronics, especially ones you frequently use, you can avoid falling in this trap.
