Growing older in Alaska isn’t cheap. With a median price of $4,957, the cost of homemaker services in Alaska is tied with Wyoming for the most expensive in the country. At $5,148, the cost of a home health aide is the country’s second-most expensive, and the $3,049 price tag for adult day healthcare is by far the costliest in the United States.

Live-in services in Alaska are also the most expensive in the country. Semiprivate and private rooms in nursing homes both cost more than $24,000 a month. That’s more than $10,000 more than the next-costliest state in each category.
