10 Stylish Interior Trends That Could Devalue Your Home

Copper items

If the elements that predominate in your house are made of natural wood or stone, then you can use copper objects to redecorate it and complement the style, but do not overdo it. Copper is a material that – used excessively – may adversely affect the appearance of your room and can also decrease the value of your property. So, pay attention to this aspect next time when you want to start a new home project.

“With so many copper items available for our homes, it’s easy to go overboard. A little copper goes a long way so use sparingly to add a warm glow to a room, especially when contrasted with light natural materials like wood and stone. While not a trend to avoid completely, restraint here is key to achieve a sophisticated look,” said Branch.

Opting for all white rooms

Another fashionable idea is to opt for all white rooms, but is it a good choice when it comes to the value of your property? It seems that all white rooms can decrease the value of your home, but only if you don’t opt for other colorful and shiny accents that could complement the whole style. Otherwise, your rooms will look boring and change the whole atmosphere when you enter there. Instead, you can try to decorate with bright-colored pillows or flower vases.

“The white-on-white trend is never likely to go out of fashion, but it will always be a big commitment in terms of upkeep. Nothing catches the eye more than when something is out of place. If you want to keep things simple, introduce color accents through accessories, greenery and wallpaper to add depth and texture,” explained Jayson Branch, Castrads.
