HBOS EMBEZZLERS’ PERSONAL LUXURIES
Money wasted: $329 million
A group of Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) bankers, including former senior manager Lynden Scofield, were sentenced in February to a cumulative 47-and-a-half years in prison for scamming 245 million pounds from the bank and its customers. The money was used to buy superyachts, jewelry, tropical holidays, and arrange “sex parties.”
